Eskaton Residential Living -Time for a Change

Eskaton provides residences, community services and healthcare to support the independence and quality of living for more than 14,000 older adults annually throughout northern California. The nonprofit organization's full spectrum of aging services includes, residential living with services, assisted living, memory care, hospice, skilled nursing, home care and other special programs. Affordability, innovation, collaboration, education and compassion are Eskaton's standards as they transform the aging experience.

TIME FOR A CHANGE
Eskaton used separate databases for each of their 32 locations, as well as separate modules for departments including AR, AP and GL.  Obtaining information across multiple locations and years was a challenge.  Producing reports had to be done manually and was very labor intensive.  Additionally, the existing software support team had been reduced as the company was moving to a new product.

NUVIEW PAYROLL SOLUTION WAS THE CLEAR CHOICE
Being a Non-Profit, many employees donate PTO to the Eskaton Foundation. With NuView Payroll, it is easy to open a supplemental payroll each quarter and process checks and taxes for all the EIN’s within the same payroll.  Generating compliance reports was a necessity for Eskaton.  NuView Payroll allowed them to report on work permits for minors, cost reporting, staffing ratios for Medicare and OSHA. “We have very complicated requirements for benefits. Length of service, status, hours worked, and EIN are all used to determine eligibility.  NuView Payroll allows us to create computation definitions and look up files”, states Payroll Manager, Rae Ann Compton.

IN- HOUSE PAYROLL FOR EFFICIENCY AND MEASUREMENT
 “With NuView Payroll we could eliminate at least one full-time employee and produce greater efficiencies and results,” states Compton.  Eskaton needed a system which housed all information in a central database that was easily accessible.  During a 2010 audit, Compton states, “I was able to produce specific requested information immediately for the auditors resulting in a speedy completion of the audit with no issues”.

SUPPORT IS KEY TO SUCCESS
 “You can purchase the best software on the market, but if the end user does not get the support necessary, it isn’t very good”, states Compton.  Rae Ann Compton’s expectation of support had been based on the support quality she receives from NuView.  “Last year we purchased some additional software from a different vendor and I very quickly learned customer support was not given the same priority that NuView provides to their customers.”  “NuView support provides answers within hours, not weeks”, Compton added.

REPORTING IS SAVING TIME & MONEY
“NuView Payroll makes it possible for me to be better at my job by providing the best customer service for our employees and management”, declares Compton.  Reports are critical to Eskaton’s business and they have the ability to provide updated information to Senior Management whenever needed.  Tracking the unique differences for each location is a necessary part of business operations and NuView Payroll has the ability to report on all locations.
